MAGICAL RAIN~BOW STUDIO
“ANYONE WHO SAYS SUNSHINE BRINGS HAPPINESS HAS NEVER DANCED IN THE RAIN”
We have had the most GORGEOUS weather. It has been the perfect balance of rain and sun, cold and warmth, darkness and light. Another storm is expected this coming week. The last one dumped a good amount of snow in northern Arizona. I can see the snow topped mountains in the distance and they are calling me to come and meditate in the cold, clean, fresh air. I lose and find myself in nature. I would have made a great “Eve”….. naked in the garden, surrounded by the rhythm and simplicity of earth and sky.
The call will have to wait to be answered until next week, sometime. We are caught up in civilization and building a new studio. Temporarily it will serve as a casita for our daughter and her fiance while they transition to the new, magical place that awaits them. In the meantime, the guys are busy building away and are making a lot of progress in a short period of time. Our backyard is one, huge construction site at the moment, but soon that will all change.
…in the beginning
…and then there was a window
..oh ya…walls and more windows, too
……almost there…..
…a real window, with real walls!
Today we decided to add a skylight in the center of the room where the evaporative cooler was. I can’t wait to hang a big, prism/crystal in the sunlight. I will have a magical, rainbow art studio. It also has a bathroom, so that is a plus. While most of the flooring in our house is painted concrete. the studio will more than likely have wood ~ bamboo flooring. ~ This is an exciting endeavor, there is nothing that my husband and the guys in our family cannot achieve, especially when it comes to building and fixing things. We all make a really good team. I take the photos and write about it, they do the actual work!! I am more than positive that I will be called upon when it comes time to paint everything. That is my favorite part, obviously. It takes a little longer than it should because I insist on using a brush. Paint rollers are such a hassle and the clean up sucks. I’m accustomed to using brushes, it just feels natural.
It seems a little crazy to be doing all of this building at a time when we are the “house of the unemployed!” (actually, my daughter started a new, cool job today, so we are not ALL on a long, winter break!)
Fear has not set in, though, and I don’t see why it should.
“CLOUDS COME FLOATING INTO MY LIFE, NO LONGER TO CARRY RAIN OR USHER STORM, BUT TO ADD COLOR TO MY SUNSET SKY”
~ Rabindrnath Tagore
My paintings will continue to be created, so I will never be “unemployed”. That is what I LOVE about being an artist… my life is my “work” and my “work” is my life.
AH! ~ The wheel of life spins and our paths twist, turn and crisscross ~ A MARVELOUS surprise in every moment.
